The Halloween Core War Tournament will be held on 31st October and offers the chance to fine-tune your vampire / anti-vamp skills in the region between the lp and 94nop hills. Players can enter up to two warriors — a vampire, a non-vamp or one of each. Entries can be up to 25 instructions and will compete in core size 8000 with max processes 250.
The opening round will run at nightfall — a round robin qualifier. Warriors with a score over 110 will go through to the final round robin confrontation at midnight. Prizes will be awarded to the highest scoring vampire and non-vamp in the final — $50 first prize to whichever has the highest score, $25 second prize to the runner-up.
Entries can be sent via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline is 30th October 2014. All entries will be published at the end of the tournament. Updates will be posted to news:rec.games.corewar, http://corewar.eu, #corewars on irc.freenode.net and on twitter using the hashtag #corewar. Good Luck!
Players may enter a vampire, a non-vamp or both. A vampire is defined as a warrior which attempts to capture enemy processes by dropping fangs which jump or split to a trap routine. For the purpose of the tournament hybrid vampires, vampire/imps, etc are classed as vampires. Scores are calculated as 3 × %wins + %ties.
Programs face each other in a one-on-one round robin with self-fights, no p-space, no read/write limits. Entries must be your own work. Extended ICWS'94 Draft Redcode applies with the following settings:
- pmars -s 8000 -p 250 -c 80000 -l 25 -d 100
