SECTION 3 - SYSTEM OPERATIONS

3.1 HOW FILES ARE STORED AND RETRIEVED

3.1.1 Drive Button

Selecting the DRIVE plaque on any of the file access panels will display a list of drive letters. Select the drive letter you want to access. If no drive is designated by the selected letter, the OSI/CACD System 2 will revert to the original drive.

3.1.2 Directory Selector

The plaque directly over the file selection area on any of the file access panels allows you to ‘back-up” to any of the current directories or folders. Using this option lets you to move back to your root directory. Hard disk users should move into the Omega folder instead of the root directory to access the RESOURCE/USER folders.

3.1.3 Folders

The OSI/CACD System2 allows access to subdirectories (or folders). If you select OPEN while a folder is highlighted, that folder will be opened and a list of files within that folder will be displayed.

3.2 FILE RETRIEVAL PANEL (LOADING FILES)

The ESC key toggles between the console buttons, the File Selection Area, and the Directory selector.

3.2.1 Button Selection Keys

Up Arrow -Highlights the previous button on console
Down Arrow -Highlights the next button on console
ESC -Moves to file selection area
RETURN -Selects the highlighted button on console

3.2.2 File Selection Keys

Up Arrow -Highlights the previous file
Down Arrow -Highlights the next file
ESC -Moves to the Directory Selector

3.2.3 Mouse/Joystick

Click on the buttons to select. A scroll-bar has been provided for file selections. Clicking on a file name highlights the file.

3.3 FSP: FILE STORAGE PANEL (SAVING FILES)

The ESC key toggles between the console buttons, the File Viewing Area, and the Directory Selector.

3.3.1 Button Selection Keys

Up Arrow -Highlights the previous button on console
Down Arrow -Highlights the next button on console
ESC -Moves to the File Viewing Area
RETURN -Selects the highlighted button on console

3.3.2 File Viewing Keys

Up Arrow -Scrolls file names up
Down Arrow -Scrolls file names down
ESC -Moves to the Directory Selector

3.3.3 Entering File Name

Backspace  -Delete character left of cursor

3.3.4 Mouse/Joystick

Click on the buttons to select. A scroll-bar is provided to scroll through existing files.

3.4 FTP: FILE TERMINATION PANEL (DELETING FILES)

The ESC key toggles between the console buttons, the File Selection Area, and the Directory Selector.

3.4.1 Button Selection Keys

Up Arrow -Highlights the previous button on console
Down Arrow -Highlights the next button on console
ESC -Moves to the File Selection Area
RETURN -Selects the highlighted button on console

3.4.2 File Selection Keys

Up Arrow -Highlights the previous file
Down Arrow -Highlights the next file
ESC -Moves to the Directory Selector

3.4.3 Mouse/Joystick

Click on the buttons to select. A scroll bar Is provided for file selections. Clicking on a file name highlights the file.
